Police/Fire projects: Scottish Office (1982 - 1990)
One of a team of civil servant engineers designing new PMR radio network for the police/fire services throughout Scotland.
Radio coverage surveys from hundreds of hill top radio sites. Writing tender documents for contractors.
Producing radio coverage maps using signal strength data logging equipment. Producing real-time radio coverage maps and overlays and comparing with the old radio systems.

Health Service Projects (1990-1996)
One of a team of civil servant engineers involved with the design and develpment of a new trunked radio system for the NHS and Scottish Ambulance Service. Invitation to tender, clerk of works duties, final testing and commissioning of major network consisting of hundreds of radio
sites throughout Scotland. Frequency planning of same.

Radio Coverage investigation: Crime Squad 1983/4
Produce radio coverage maps from drive testing from test transmitters on certain strategic radio sites in Central Scotland.

Radio Coverage investigation: Fisheries Inspectorate: 1992/1993
Investigate radio coverage problems for Scottish Office Fisheries Inspectorate in and around Pitlochry, Tayside.

Radio Coverage Investigation: Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood House, Edinburgh.
Walk testing with measuring receiver to try to investigate poor radio coverage in new excavations throughout Edinburgh Castle tunnels.

Investigations into different modes of transmission for the Police/fire services; 1985.
Drive and speech testing using test transmitters. FM/AM testing and comparing results with previous SSB tests done a few years earlier.

Under my own company: Business Radio Systems
1996; Assist in the development of the RACSS mobile radio survey system.
Drive testing using radio survey software. Map processing etc.

Design of new mobile radio network for East of Scotland Water (for Coopers & Lybrand) (1998)

Improvements to Scottish Power mobile radio network (1997). Suggestions for additional radio sites.

Radio coverage surveys for Mountain Rescue Service in Tayside Region. Propose new radio sites.
